Jacques Jarrige

"Meanders" 7 panels screen, 2013
77 x 170 x 1 in (195.58 x 431.80 x 2.54 cm)
A 7-panel screen/sculpture made out of MDF, panels of which are layered and glued together before being carved and sculpted. This screen is part of Jarrige’s “Meanders” body of work which treats and uses the line as an element with as much importance and monumentality as physical mass. The screen’s openwork frame embodies an organic line, tracing joyous abstract shapes across the panels, while evoking the quiet meandering of a river map; it activates any space through its voids.
